With increase in Covid cases, restrictions imposed in 6 more districts in Haryana
Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in the state, Haryana Government has ordered the closure of cinema halls, multiplexes and sports complexes in six more districts till January 12. The six districts where the restrictions will be applicable are Karnal, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Rohtak and Jhajjar.
With this, the number of districts in the red zone in Haryana have increased to 11 from five earlier. The restrictions were earlier imposed in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ambala, Panchkula and Sonipat from January 2 to 12.
The state on Thursday reported 2678 COVID cases and one death.
According to the latest order issued by the Haryana State Disaster Management Authority, the restrictions will be applicable in all 11 districts till 5 am on January 12.
Cinema halls, theaters and multiplexes shall remain closed. Malls and markets will be allowed to open till 6 pm. However, shops selling essential items like milk and medicine shops will be allowed to open at all times to enable them to serve the public at large, it said.
According to the restrictions imposed earlier in five districts, the closing time for malls and markets was 5 pm.
All sports complexes, swimming pools and stadia shall remain closed except when being used for training of sportspersons for participation in national and international sports events, the order said.
The government and private offices, except for emergency/essential services have been advised to function with 50 per cent staff attendance, the order added.
A night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am is already in force in the state.
2678 FRESH INFECTIONS IN HARYANA
Haryana on Thursday reported 2678 fresh infections and one death due to COVID-19. With this, the total case tally reached 781697 and the death toll stood at 10067. A day before 2176 cases were reported in Haryana “A total of 8 new cases of Omicron were reported in Haryana taking the number to 114. The active Omicron cases in the state stands at 31 while the total COVID active cases has jumped to 7912,” according to the state’s health bulletin.
The bulletin stated, “Gurugram district reported the highest number of 1447 COVID cases. 297 cases were reported in Faridabad, 169 in Ambala, 162 in Panchkula, 107 in Karnal.” As per the bulletin, Haryana reported the daily positivity rate at 5.91 percent while the cumulative positivity rate of 5.28 percent. The COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 97.70 percent and the fatality rate was reported at 1.29 percent in the state.
